Kristin Canan, M.S.W., L.I.C.S.WLicensed Independent Clinical Social Worker
Specializing in the treatment of trauma and associated numbing behaviors individuals utilize to cope with trauma (including eating disorders, substance use, self-harming behaviors, and suicidality), Kristin has the privilege of walking with and holding space for people as they re-establish their sense of safety and experience healing. Kristin holds a Master of Social Work degree and an Interpersonal Trauma certification from University of Denver. She is also trained in EMDR and is actively pursuing Sensorimotor training. Kristin believes that if we can tune into and honor our bodies’ needs to process threatening and unsafe physical and emotional experiences while developing skills that support our bodies in re-establishing safety, we can resolve our brains’ understandable, valid needs to numb the discomfort we experience. She also welcomes spirituality integration as helpful. Kristin serves as the director of all adult eating disorder services and feels honored to be able to support the clients as well as the team here at Water’s Edge.
