Kari Holmes, MA

Mental Health Practitioner

I believe we are created for joy, but that life can interrupt and disrupt our experience of it, especially when we have experienced trauma. It is my honor, as a therapist, to walk alongside my clients as they explore their experiences and lean into a process of exploration to find growth and healing. I utilize numerous therapeutic approaches, including CBT, narrative therapy, mindfulness, body awareness, and psychodynamic therapy. My compassion for trauma survivors is deep, and I utilize a trauma-informed approach to therapy. I happily invite my clients to explore their spiritual nature and support them free of judgment. I am an avid believer in animal-assisted therapy and am taking steps toward bringing a canine partner into my practice.

Having worked for 20 years as a nutritionist and personal trainer for the YMCA-Twin Cities, I cultivated my passion for a holistic approach to health and wellness. My interest in nutrition and mental health is currently driving my dissertation pursuits as I explore the impact of malnutrition on the mental health of adolescents.

I work with individuals, families, and groups. I also work in the adolescent intensive outpatient program (IOP) eating disorders group.
