Kristin Lyon, CTRS, RYT200

Certified Recreation Therapist, Registered Yoga Instructor

Kristin Lyon is a Recreation Therapist and Yoga Instructor working in the intensive outpatient programs at WECHC. Kristin got her degree in Recreation Therapy at the University of MN and completed her yoga teacher training at the Yoga Retreat Center when it was the Yoga Center of Minneapolis. As a Recreation Therapist, Kristin works with clients to support them in the integration of leisure as a tool in caring for ones mental health and achieving desired personal growth. Who says therapy can’t be fun?!

Kristin’s strengths lie in taking the concepts you’re addressing in therapy and finding ways to explore them experientially through play or other creative outlets. As a yoga instructor, she offers therapeutic body-based interventions as unique inroads to self-awareness, self-compassion, mindfulness, and emotion regulation. Working in eating disorder treatment comprises a majority of Kristin’s career as a Recreation Therapist. When Kristin isn’t teaching others the therapeutic value of play and movement, she can be found engaged in her own play, whether she’s working on an art project, enjoying the Twin Cities on the two wheels of her bicycle, or cheering on her favorite sports teams.
